Ian was born near Burnham in the UK, during a pea soup fog that he was horrified to hear described not long ago as one of the ten most significant environmental catastrophes of the 20th century. The fact that the ambulance driver needed his father to walk ahead of the ambulance to show him the way was all that Ian remembered being told about the fog. He spends most of his time at the office, trying to feed the pagan hordes (i.e. the household). Vacations and soccer bring out the best in him. On the left, here he is in the Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris during July 1999.
On the right, in Quimper in Brittany, summer 1996. Charlie was in the pushchair. Ian first set foot in France at Quimper airport in 1965. Below on the right, Thanksgiving dinner in 2004 with Alex and Charlie in Death Valley, after a long day exploring. Below left, on the banks of the Thames in flood, July 2007 in Marlow. ![]() ![]()
Ian likes trains, Yosemite, Santa Cruz, soccer and bike riding, not to forget Marie-Hélène and all of the children!
